“Here is the deepest secret nobody knows.
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide.
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart.
I carry your heart.
I carry it in my heart.”
You've Touched My Heart
For smiling once again,
You've filled my life with peaceful dreams
and you've become my closest friend.
and you've become my closest friend.
You've shared your heartfelt secrets
And your trust you've given me,
You showed me how to feel again
To laugh, and love, and see.
If life should end tomorrow
And from this world I should part,
I shall be forever young
For you have touched my heart.
You showed me how to feel again
To laugh, and love, and see.
If life should end tomorrow
And from this world I should part,
I shall be forever young
For you have touched my heart.

Your Name
I wrote your name in the sky,
but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in the sand,
but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name in my heart,
and forever it will stay.

Should Love Be Unconditional?

I Love You, the three magic words that changes everything in one's life. When we say,"I Love You" to someone, we make a silent promise to them that no matter what happens, I will love you always. But the problem is how many of us keep that promise? Something that's very easy, to make a promise, but when it comes to keeping them, most of us fail. In today's world, cheating in love is not uncommon. It has happened time and again, and is very much prevalent in the type of society, we live in today….where falling in and out of love, is the most common thing going around. But there are people who truly keep their promise of being together always.
In Love, the most important factor to me is honesty from both sides. Couples should be faithful to each other. The very base of LOVE is to only LOVE without conditions. If there is a condition attached to it, then it's a deal, not LOVE.

Of all the myriad topics of love, the one that haunts me to the core is the sheer limitation of the word… It’s like a giant trying to get into an ant’s shoe. Not possible. When I say love – a world of emotions come together in different hues - they break me, lift me, drop me, caress me and whip me all at once. I hear my voice screaming “focus!! Identify where in the totem pole your love is and then proceed with caution”.
So that’s what I am doing now – identifying. Its Valentine’s Day soon and so the love described here should be (in popular belief) about lovers. And what a beautiful love that is!!! The love of trust, sex, belief, togetherness, lifetimes shared together, walks in the beach, roses, misunderstandings, children, old age, companionship, table for twos, dim-lights, thorns, tears, sacrifices, familiarity, comfort, pain …. Not necessarily in that order. A life shared together in a nutshell - a life that ends with knowing the birth of every minute wrinkle on your lover, and the expertise of quickly being able to erase them, to bring back memories of youthful love and titillating excitement. Then again maybe none of the above but still lovers forever – even soul mates.
Once upon a time, in a not so faraway place, there lived a girl who was blinded by the love she harbored for a much elder man in her village. She spied on him when he toiled in the sun, working on his land with his cows and plough. The smell of his perspiration and boiling blood infused the damp soil and the atmosphere with the kind of intoxication that was only known to her. Jamuni, kept the secret of her desirous love only to herself. When at times their eyes met – she would feign innocence and behave like a child, who was mesmerized by the power of muscles. Kishan would nod at her and go home for an afternoon of love and rest with his wife. Jamuni would wait endlessly for another opportunity to catch a whiff of that pulsating air.
Days turned into night and nights into days till the time came for Jamuni to get married. Her parents had found a “suitable” man for her and the day of the wedding was finalized. Jamuni bravely accepted her fate and played the part of a shy young girl for the world. Till one day she was cornered by Jai, her husband to be. “Jamuni, I know where you heart is,” he said. She didn’t dare respond in case her voice gave her away. “I know it will never be mine. But I am selfish. I am happy to be a part of your life even if you will never be a part of mine.” Jamuni’s stinging eyes could hold the tears no more but her turning away only exposed her love and pain a little more. The blood running through her veins turned cold and her legs gave way. Jai caught her before she hit the ground, their eyes met and there was an immediate understanding. They hugged in urgent embrace till the weight of their sacrifice penetrated their skins and took up a bitter sweet place, forfeited by reason in their heads, leaving little space for anything else but the rulings of the heart.
The day they got married, both bowed down to take the blessing of Kishan – and he blessed unaware of the magnanimity of his role in their relationship. His wife embraced the new couple and whispered good wishes into their ears. And so the union was formalized.
It is said, just a fortnight later, Kishan and his wife were hit by a bus while going to town. He had died on spot while his wife had become paralyzed for life. There was no one in the world to take care of an invalid woman. She had little family who were prompt to make excuses of financial hardships among other things. She was 45 years of age then. Now she is 73. Jamuni and Jai still look after her - taking care of her minutest needs, taking her to all her check ups and going the world around to look for a cure - all this at the complete amazement of all around them.
On one inky blue night, Jai and Jamuni sat on their jute cot outside, enjoying the moonlight as she was heard telling him “he lives in her – I have finally got a chance to love him.” Jai smiled and said “I love you”. She smiled back and said “Thank you and I love you”.
Hope I was able to explain the layers of love to you my dear reader. Love is tricky – ‘I love you’ will never be enough to express what is in the heart. Words are just letters – read the heart.
On a lighter note - Nirvana’s ‘Come as you are’ is one of my favorite tracks on love. But in quotidian life when I say “come as you are” I don’t mean it. I mean “wear that shirt to go with that tie and please be a friend.” When I say “leave me alone”, I mean “please don’t go anywhere”. When I say “whatever”, I mean “specifically this or that”. That is what most women are made of – riddles. We absolutely love to take our man on a roller coaster ride and leave him hanging in the air and of course we still love him. In a way I guess that is the problem. If you were not on my black book as ‘lover’ – I would leave you alone – but you are hooked my friend. That reminds me – If I told you your love is everything to me even on Valentine’s Day – it doesn’t mean you can go without giving me a little something special (APART FROM YOUR LOVE).

Silence clasped us for a moment. I was sitting on the bench fully addled. I just couldn’t believe that she was in front of me, smiling at me. It was after two years I saw her standing before me with the same smile that made all my worries vanish in a split of a second. Her brown eyes weren't really looking at me. I thought she tried to avoid eye-contact with me.
“Is this a dream?” I asked myself pinching my hand
Her black hair was cropped short just up to her shoulders and her brown eyes were now staring at me. I thought she hasn’t changed a lot
I was bombarded myself with a jelly of questions.
Is that Janu who is standing before me? Did she come for me? What made her come to me again? Does she still love me? Still hate me? Did everyone else know that she was coming back except me since I'm always the last one to find out?
There were times when loneliness harassed me where ever I go. There were times when Silence engulfed me though I was in middle of the central plaza. There had always been a feckless debate between my heart and mind & mind winning over my broken heart consoling it in every possible way. There were times when I tried hard to forget her but left with much more pain.
“What has she done to me?” I asked myself. Everything seemed to be perfect and complete.
"Manu, How are you?
My eyes slightly widened with surprise. My Heart raced faster than I could count. I just couldn’t take my eyes of her. Once again, she swept me of my feet. I thought of hugging her and kissing her. I felt it would not make sense either way.
“Let me know if I had a second chance” I mumbled
"Come on. It was since a long time I had seen you, and you're just sitting there, staring at me. Don't I at least deserve a hug?" Her voice was light and teasing as she stretched out her slender arms, beckoning a hug.
I was a bit shocked. I wasn't exactly sure if she was talking to me. I was dumbstruck. My lips went in silence. I was still wondering if this was real.
"Psh," she replied as she smiled and she rushed over to me and threw her arms around my neck. I was taken aback by surprise so I stagger back a bit, my eyes blinking rapidly in slight confusion as she continued to hug me tightly. Her hug caught me by surprise as her hair brushed against my cheek. I could smell the perfume that made me intoxicating. I had this mild sensation running all through my body
I then looked into her brown eyes which reassured me that she would be mine forever. I gave her a smile. I couldn’t speak a word and I was totally lost in her warm hug. She rested her head on my chest and I closed my arms around her.
Silence took its charge again…
“I never want to let you go” I whispered in her ears.
“Then I never want to leave you” She said as she smiled.
I just was unable to control myself. Emotions started playing their game. All of a sudden I kissed her gently holding her as if I never want her to go away from me.
I broke the kiss. She’s still in my arms. I thought if she could hear my heart beating fast and rapid.
“Could I have this kiss forever” I Whispered and all of a sudden she pulled me back in and we kissed again.
“I love you” I whispered again.
She smiled at me followed by another period of silence. This was the first time I felt silence as the best way of communication. She’s killing me slowly.
“Is this a dream” I mumbled
“I hope this shouldn’t be a dream” She said looking into my eyes
“Kiss me again” She whispered and we kissed again.
We sat on the bench. I rested my head on her shoulder. It felt so nice that even words could fall short if I start describing the moment.
“Why is your heart beating so fast?” she asked
“Darling, some special things make my heart beat faster and you are my special thing” I said.
“So, It’s over and I’m Back with you now” She said as she smiled.
“No, It’s not over until I hear saying you I Love You” I said looking into her eyes.
She again smiled and again she swept me of my feet…
Luv,
Manu

‘Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus’. We all know that, don’t we? That quote goes on to suggest that men and women have different expectations when it comes to a relationship. A stable relationship can only exist if a proper compromise or balance is reached between those expectations. But in actual life, it is seen that more often than not, such expectations lead to quarrels, arguments and even break-ups.
So let us try to understand why do relationships break-up, and how are Men and Women responsible for it, in their own ways. Before I start, we should keep one thing in mind: The points discussed are related to men/women in general, and they may not be present in all men or all women. People differ from one another, and there are male feminists and female tomboys, for example.
His:
Basically, many people believe that males detest the word-‘commitment’. A man will not hesitate getting into a physical relationship, but he does not want to think of the long term results of it. He wants to enjoy life, and will postpone any sort of serious commitment [Read-marriage] as long as he can. Arguably, most men have a polygamous mentality. They find it hard to stick to just one partner, and they want to experience the feeling of staying with multiple women. So to commit oneself to one woman permanently is a sort of a mental ego-war. The truth is that even today, most men consider themselves to be superior to women in every way. So they believe that its naïve to restrict oneself to one person alone. But that does not apply for all men. Not all males consider love to be synonymous with sex, but majority give more emphasis to physical love over emotional love. This may be the first step towards infidelity.
There are some men who get so emotionally attached to their partners that they find it hard to let go. These are usually the possessive types. They will hate it if their girlfriends talk with any other male. They want a 24 x 7 report on the lifestyle followed by their partners. They will usually have a high sense of insecurity of being deserted. But on the positive side, they will be protective in nature, and will do almost anything to keep Her happy and satisfied. They do not realize that getting over-possessive can actually strain their relationships. And if a break-up does happen, they will keep trying to get the girl back. In extreme cases, it may lead to nefarious cases of revenge-crime, in which the male lover torments his ex-girlfriend for deserting him.
Hers:
According to Statistics, 90% of all major crimes[such as murders, rape, etc] are committed by men. Am not suggesting that women are never wrong, but the truth is that most girls do not think of physically harming a person, vengeance, etc. They prefer ignoring or taking help from others.

There is a common saying-‘All relationships are initiated by men and are ended by women’. There is a certain level of truth to it. In more than 80% of cases involving break-ups, it’s the female who brings up the issue. A woman prefers to end a relationship if she feels that it is not working for her. Whereas a man will try to extend a fragile relationship for as long as possible.
Most women do not like discussing about their inner feelings with their partners. In case, something is wrong, they will prefer to keep quiet rather than point it out explicitly. This is the reason that such negative feelings tend to pile up, and are then unleashed all at once, in the form of a break-up. Her partner is often left astounded, and he keeps wondering why she took such an extreme step all of a sudden. Whereas it may not have been a sudden decision at all.
Women are known to be moody, and indeed their mood changes frequently, which is also partly due to physical reasons. Most females consider love to be something emotional, something unique and special, and they do not relate it to mere physical advances. In some cases, a female may feel seriously hurt if her partner keeps instigating her to get physical with him. Women are generally more tolerant than men, but they take note of mistakes made by their partners very seriously. In some cases, they refuse to pardon a person for committing a slip-up, in the mistaken notion that he will continue to make such faults in future. They may even take the extreme step of labeling the person as evil/wicked, and will avoid all communication with him in future, even if the person had done it unintentionally.

Though it is said that women tend to forgive easily, I believe that such a thing rarely occurs in real life. In very few cases does a woman actually reconcile herself with her ex-partner, even if she was the person responsible for the break-up.
I have analyzed a few causes of break-ups in relationships. These are by no means exhaustive. There are many more reasons, some obvious, others subtle, which can result in break-ups. But what is important is that sometimes a Man should try to think like a Woman, and a Woman should try to think like a Man. That helps!

I have been struggling for over 24 hours to write this post on love and romance. I have written and re-written this piece a thousand times and yet nothing somehow seemed to pull that tug at the heart which all love stories do. What is it about love that has not already been written about? What is it about love that has not already been discussed a thousand times? I read a thousand articles to try and get some inspiration about this but somehow nothing clicked. I was just not feeling the way, a person who writes about love, feels. Dejected and lost, I felt maybe I had the lost the ability to feel love, and gave up the idea of submitting this article and went to bed.
And in bed, I suddenly smiled cause I saw the calendar and the date which signaled that Valentine's day was coming and I smiled. I smiled cause I suddenly remembered about the love I have experienced and that is when I realised why I was not feeling inspired. When I was going through the myriad of articles on love and romance, somewhere every article had a bit of pain in it and I could not feel that pain. Even the ones, where one spoke of finding a soulmate, somehow there was this subtle hint of pain of loving someone so much that it hurt them. It was somehow like love was incomplete without pain. But then my love always made my smile. And that is when I got up and decided to pen down my thoughts.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1st Corinthians 13:4-13 (New International Version)

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, what better than to start my posts here at...."WE HAVE A STORY", with my favourite topic, LOVE....the reason to live, to be happy, to bind every relationship in this world. I wish you all, Happy Valentines...may your lives be full of love always. When I think about Love as what Love is, the only thing that comes to my mind is care. A level of care where the only thing that matters to you the most is the person you love and their wellness.
This quote by Plato makes me wonder about LOVE. Why is love such an overpowering emotion? Why do we fall in love? Do you have this strange feeling inside you which is hard to figure out? Did you ever love somebody so much that the earth moved? Did you ever love somebody, even though it hurt to? Did you ever love somebody - there was nothing else your heart could do? Did you ever love somebody like I love you?
This may be love but since you are confused, it can be otherwise as well. This is normally a situation of mixed feelings where you find it real hard to decide whether it's true love or is it just attraction. Many of us celebrate Valentines Day on every 14th of February as a common day to rekindle existing love in a relationship or a chance to create new feelings between two people. Although it seems that people who are in love celebrate their love for each other everyday. Being in love is a beautiful experience. But how many of people know this...what is the touch of love? After being in love with someone, you actually realize the importance of everything.... and I don't think that there is any other way, except words to express how precious it actually is. It’s just the feeling of care that takes the poet out of you...
Your touch of love means so much! How do you feel when someone has touched you with love? It just plain feels good right? Falling in love is one of the most mysterious and amazing things in the world and it can be hard to know whether or not someone is falling or not. There's a huge difference between liking and loving or even lusting and loving someone. If you're careful and watch for the signs, you'll be able to identify someone falling in love. When you feel another's love toward you, you begin to feel that maybe you aren't so bad, someone loves you. You feel that maybe you are, after all, worthy of love because here is some coming your way. Another's love opens you up to a little belief in yourself. You begin to enjoy life.
